Cathead 2007 Rental Info

Welcome to our summer home, which sits on the pristine sands of Cathead Bay near the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula. We are sharing it with others to help put our kids through college, and are looking for tenants who will take ownership care of our modest dwelling and respect the privacy of our neighbors and the purity of the environment.

We hope you are such people.

Our cottage is remote, being the next to last house on a 1.7 mile dead end private road. We are only two hundred feet away from nearly a mile of state-owned shoreline and hundreds of acres of untouched sand dunes. Northport is the nearest village; a fifteen minute drive away.

Our 110 feet of private sugar sand beach affords great swimming in clear water. Sit on our deck and watch the freighters and sailboats pass between our beach and South Fox Island, seventeen miles to the northwest. Enjoy spectacular multi-colored sunsets. And later, as darkness falls, look up at the sky and notice the thousands of stars illuminating the night.

Living on the beach can be refreshing. It can instill an undying appreciation of nature in children and adults alike.

Our newly painted living room, looking beachward, then inward.

We have three bedrooms and two baths. We prefer to sleep six people or less. Our inventory of beds is as follows:
1 Queen bed, in master bedroom
1 Double bed in second bedroom.
3 Twin beds. One is in second bedroom as a top bunk; the other two are as bunk beds in the third bedroom.

Our Master bedroom, with adjoining bath; the blue room, and green room.

We also have a laundry area equipped with a washer and dryer. For your convenience we have a television, VCR, and microwave oven, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. (Sorry, no dishwasher).

Our neighbors are our friends, and out of respect for them, we would like to limit our guests to individual families of six members or less, though we could sleep seven in special situations. We do not allow large gatherings, such as family reunions. No campers are allowed to be set up in the driveway, and we would like to know if you will have more than 3 cars during your stay.

You will need to bring linen, food, large plastic trash bags, charcoal, toilet paper and any other personal items. Also, plan to bring bath towels, kitchen towels, beach towels and warm clothing, as the nights can get cool.

Our efficient kitchen; our laundry area.

Please note that we do not allow smoking, or pets.

Our telephone has been left on for your convenience. Cell phones typically don’t work in this remote area. Please note that to make long distance calls you will need your carriers access number and a calling card. Local calls are free of charge; long distance is at your expense.

Cathead Cottage 2005 Info

It's nearly half-past February, so we are finally planning what to do with our family cottage at Cathead Bay for 2005!

We've reserved Memorial Day weekend for the annual Corbett get-together, and June 11-18th for the parties that will no doubt commence after Nora's high school graduation and Steve's 21st birthday.

And one or two weeks will be reserved in August prior to Nora's departure for college and Leah's welcoming home.

But for the other weeks: we're open to friends sharing our space (for a small fee, of course, to help defray college costs).
