Running Mates
I have a brilliant idea. We should go back to the system used in the beginning of our country and have the runner up be vice president. It would bring much needed balance to a corrupt executive branch. Since when did we stop voting for the vice president? Since when did we stop having a say? Having the runner up for the presidency be vice president would include the other half of the country's votes in the executive branch. Maybe that's the way to go...

One problem with that idea is that, despite the results of the past few elections, one can never be sure that "the other half" of the country will vote for the other party's candidate. Also, can you imagine what chaos would ensue should something happen to the president? All of a sudden, without warning, the other party would be in charge. I do believe that that may have been one main reason why the amendment was made in the first place.
what about a separate race for vice president all together?
